About
Every calendar in town. One Wednesday email.
Murfreesboro does not have an events shortage. It has an events scattering problem. On any given week there are Blue Raider games and Murphy Center shows, concerts and art crawls around the Public Square, storytimes and classes across the Rutherford County Library System, Discovery Center programs, parks department outings, church and club events, school performances — spread across dozens of calendars, feeds, and flyers. Our launch census counted 60+ events in a single week. Almost nobody sees more than a fraction of it.
The existing calendars do their jobs well. What Murfreesboro never had is a resident-first weekly roundup — one free email, written for the people who live here, that treats a library storytime and a park campout as seriously as a headliner at Murphy Center. So that’s what this is.
This Week in Murfreesboro is an independent publication. Every week the calendars get read — MTSU athletics and arts, the library system, the Discovery Center, city and parks listings, Square venues, and the community submissions that come in through this site — and the best of it lands in one email every Wednesday: the week’s top picks, family and kids events, live music and nightlife, the free stuff, game days & campus, and the long tail of community events the big calendars miss.
Listings are always free, and they’re earned, never bought — sponsors get placement, not coverage (see the sponsor page). Corrections, tips, and events are welcome: submit an event or write to hello@thisweekinmurfreesboro.com.
